Building on idea of sad spaces: dark sabbaticals. Periods you modify regular routine to indulge/explore dark/sad thoughts to process trauma in environment. Opposite of depression: only to be undertaken when you have the emotional reserves. Otherwise you get traumatized/depressed

Idea: sad spaces like safe spaces or meditation spaces. Places you can go be sad in. We have happy spaces like Disneyland, playgrounds, or shopping malls for adults. Why not sad spaces? Wabi-sabi ruins maybe?

Also seems like you'd simply get fatigued. Occupying that sort of mental space is especially taxing, unless you're predisposed..
