Was there a named political movement associated with 19th century romanticism (1800-50)? Would it be correct to identify it with pre-Marxist socialism? Would make sense since culturally it was a reaction to late 18th century enlightenment liberalism (~1750-1800 by my reckoning)

When thinking of Romantic artists+authors, remember most had some form of education+training. They weren't from landed gentry in many cases nor peerage, but not workers or freeholders who suffered most in Britain & France, needing universal suffrage.

Surely nationalism, in its early forms, was closest thing to a political expression of romanticism. Think of the romantic interest in folklore & in developing national mythologies. Herder, that early philosopher of nationalism, was clearly in the counter-Enlightenment tradition.
