How do people stay interested in money? I like both production and consumption but connecting the two with money feels increasingly exhausting, like paperwork or standards compliance. Makework middleware.

Money itself is not interesting. Security and freedom are. In our current system, there is a correlation.

Developing the intuitions isn’t hard, but doesn’t make it interesting

Money is production in suspended animation. Storing it in a representational form allows greater freedom in commerce, but also more numerous forms of risk.

Maybe it stays interesting to the extent that [other people] understand it less than you? Plenty of layers of abstraction to level up to once basic personal income/expenses are solved for.

I'm not so interested in money. I'm interested in being able to buy art supplies. 😜😜😜

My interest in money is a form of inertia from the times when I was desperate for it, to eat and live.
I’m no longer feeding the flywheel but I can see that it will take years more to fully wind down.

Money emits information (about what you do that society really cares about). It pierces the veils of politeness, political correctness, expediency. In this sense more interesting than production and consumption.
