A basic asymmetry between far left and far right is that they fight for different different things at different Maslow levels. Far right fights for recognition at love/belonging/esteem levels, far left for material necessity at physiological/security level.

this is why I'm a leftist sympathetic to the right AND SJWs. "intersectional third positionism" will be the first seriously and deliberately Maslow-layered politics
-
heh, interestingly I'm a left-libertarian sympathetic to reactionaries because liberal politics is already foundationally Maslow-layered and that's exactly what's wrong with it. what I want is a serious and deliberate *left* program to *overthrow* the Maslow hierarchy

the standard criticism of SJWism from the left (mine included, most days) is exactly that it's only shallowly "left" because it's obsessed with esteem and recognition and oddly quiet about material conditions and demands
-
that said & tho I do like and broadly endorse this analysis, a flaw I do see is there really is (at least in the first world) a longstanding intra-left tension between "economic left" and "cultural left" that tracks the exact same recognition-needs vs. material-needs dichotomy
