I mostly ignore the authoritarian-libertarian axis in talking about politics because it’s a fine distinction that’s not going to enter the Overton window in our lifetimes. Left vs Right is it for basic, high-impact, leveraged conversations. Reduced instruction set politicking.

It's the most coherent, but it also results in pretty much everyone being on one side. Uncomfortable maybe, but true. LvR is not really useful when discussing policy or ideas, only temporary tribal affiliations.
