Sometimes I wonder if I stopped writing how long I could live purely off the interest on the capital so to speak. I’m guessing I could get away with about a year of complete silence before my stuff dissolved into internet background radiation and I’d have to restart from scratch

People will still be rediscovering Gervais Principle. Some people are still discovering The Last Psych for the first time every day. People might forget in the short term, but they will recall/recognise you when you get back

I feel like you'd never quite hit zero, however. I've got sites in my RSS reader that haven't updated for years, but if they do I'll be right back to reading. I also cite years-old articles (yours, and others) in conversation all the time.
Fame still isn't entirely fleeting.
