Hmm, in specific cases it may be an overreaction, but as a default, especially for women in STEM, it is unfortunately often a justified defense mechanism. Men mansplain to everybody, and not always as a power move, but other men usually have subtle responses that women can’t use.
Actually we won’t. We’ll end up remaking the institutional order in p2p ways where the problem goes away instead of getting solved. It exists because large orgs hardcode defaults in firmware that turn stochastic individual stupidity into deterministic systemic malice.

Mansplaining and callouts wouldn’t even need special terms if we didn’t live in a world of sclerotic organizations full of old-boys-network committees handing each other plum rent-seeking sinecures. It would just be called social ineptitude.
