It feels like current society is set up to make it easy to show off intelligence and hard to show integrity. We need more social situation where integrity comes to the front - places where it's clear who's taking initiative and risk.
-
Some (uncomfortable) suggestions: - socialize by doing projects and being in situations where initiative and integrity comes out - describe people as kind, consistent, and authentic, not smart - talk about specific instances of others exhibiting integrity

The best way to pretend to be both good and smart is to smile and say nothing.
-
In most situations if your smile is real and you manage to say nothing you *are* smart :-)

Intelligence/smartness is more amenable to degrees or levels than integrity plus it can be compartmentalized in specific domains. Often, with one or two questions it can be gauged.
-
In many situations people are more willing to reveal lack of intelligence but never lack of integrity.

As in "never attribute to lack of intelligence, that which can (first) be adequately explained by lack of integrity"?

The required sampling time interval is much larger for integrity.

I guess lack of integrity has a weaker heat signature in things people say than lack of intelligence. Easier to pretend to be good than smart.
