I like consulting because other people’s business problems are so much more interesting than my own. My personal biz meta-work amounts to random acts of cash-flow management every few months when arbitrary numbers I’m vaguely aware of wander outside apathy bounds to anxiety zones

II basically try not to work with people who don’t own the decisions they are responsible for. You only need BS “deliverables” if you’re working for someone who’s not the ultimate decision-maker on how to use the thinking being done.
I’d rather consult for an intern who has autonomy in doing something humble like tweeting than for a CEO with so little power that you’re effectively helping them craft board presentations
