17y and counting in my case. Rarely, on a long drive, I might listen to a bit when bored by my own thoughts (unchanged music from ripped CDs ~2000) but otherwise zero. When wife listens in car, I tune it out unless it’s annoying enough that I ask her to change stations

I've gone through this phases before. It felt like a subconscious need to be out among real public. I would do stuff like people watch and pay attention to built environment ..take pics etc. Currently in exact opposite phase of that where I'm hikikomorrying...

Maybe it helps to associate certain activities with specific contexts or uses. Ex. wonder if watching a little bit of TV with other people might be a net benefit from a social POV, and I do most of my music-listening while doing the more repetitive aspects of design work.
