I’ve moaned about my graceless middle-aging quite a bit lately, but there are compensations. One of them, especially as a guy, is that you are no longer easily hypnotized by youthful female beauty. You note beauty, but it doesn’t blind you to warning signs of sketchy character.

Different things. Youth, power, greed, beauty, mission, science...

I think older people are more likely to be simply consciously complicit in fraud since they can’t miss patterns they’ve seen before. A young person needs either uncanny perceptively or strong values to avoid hypnotism since they lack experience data.
