“Progressive” seems like an imperfect antonym to “Traditionalist”. A progressive is usually just someone who wants to make a currently weaker thing the foundation for a new traditionalism (not an oxymoron though it looks like one).
The right antonym is probably anarchist.

Well put. It also seems most traditionalist are ossified progressives. They rarely go back very far. Their utopia seems to be the 1950s, which is a bad target to go back to, since it was a transitionary period (from agriculturalism to consumerism.)
