What do EU people think of GDPR?

While I recognize that it puts quite some strain on IT providers especially in the beginning phase of implementation, it's largely a huge step in the right direction (if enforcement actually happens)
In my circles there's concern of strengthening platform monopolies over small 1s

We think GDPR is an opportunity to be on the right side of trust. The backstory on why firms like Klout, Unrollme & Verve exited the EU speak volumes. 5 days in & already evident that many firms have had to root and branch examine personal data governance.

As a consumer I like it. As a corporate IT guy, it's a total nightmare.

Most of my Italian friends don't care (we have bigger things to worry about). Most of my German & CEE friends approve, even though many of them work in the IT sector & had to deal with it in some way. I like it as a bold move & a test case of EU regulation making int'l waves.

Most people do not care. Some think is useless. Few people do not understand but enjoy the spirit. Transparency in data management is a good principle. Personally, I'm proud we've embraced it.

I'm not doing anything dodgy, and neither are the services I use to run my 1-person business, and it is painful as hell. "Isn't too hard" is entirely relative to your resources.
