The older I get the less patience I have for “systems” of any sort. They’re nearly always avoidance mechanisms for some unpleasant-to-process baggage.

I make "systems" for a living, and even though I haven't come to see them as avoidance mechanisms, it makes me uneasy every time. I keep thinking that "if I were the user, I would not put up with this". But what is the alternative? What do they avoid?
