The current border wall replaced hundreds of agents spread along our border since Operation Hold the Line in the 90's. It eradicated illegal crossings but crippled BP's budget. Decade later the wall replaced agents, with same effect, a safe city. There's always been a wall.

We have always lived in a safe community. I grew up in El Paso and have never once felt unsafe — not once. The false narrative about border communities is more about red meat for republican voters than it is about our our reality.
