  2. I also don’t understand how the Sanders people are calling Michael Bloomberg an oligarch and a plutocrat when the man literally made the American Dream happen. Was he supposed to wake up one day in 1991, decide he had enough money and just moved to a commune? He’s self made.

  3. I don’t understand the cognitive gymnastics that are going on right now with Sanders supporters who are tweeting that Bernie won and Pete chested Bernie out of a win at the same time when we still have no idea what happened.

  4. This reminds me of a sketch from The State on MTV back in the day. "THA POPA! HE'SA COMIN'!"

  5. Today would have been my older brother's 44th birthday. Can you all do me a favor today and, if you have a sibling, give them a call. Tell them you love them. Remind them of a memory you cherish. And tell them that you're there for them unconditionally. Thanks.

  7. At this point, when Bloomberg buys the party and tells folks to get down or lay down, we can't say we didn't see it coming.

  8. I honestly don't get your point. You're basically towing the Trump line where all you want to do is 0wN tH3 m0d3rates without considering the implications of your actions. But when Pam Bondi is being confirmed to the Supreme Court, we'll all be here knowing how it happened.

  9. Let's face it, there's nothing short of the DNC completely ceding the process to Bernie Sanders as a coronation that would placate his supporters. There's no world outside of complete fealty to Sanders where enough would be enough. They're always going to find a fault.

  10. And after making a whole raft of rule changes to make sure that all of the Sanders people on Twitter can't claim the process is rigged, even when it imperiled the functioning of the primary itself, these folks are here today claiming the (nonexistent) caucus results are rigged.

  11. But you can tie just about every stupid move the DNC has made in setting up these primaries over the past two years to their desire to placate the Sanders campaign. Donor thresholds and qualifications for debates. Convoluted caucus reporting. All of it has been a disaster.

  12. Man, listen. Democrats are gonna mess around and lose in 2020 because Bernie Sanders supporters are embracing their own form of grievance politics and building conspiratorial persecution narratives to try to create the illusion of unfairness where it doesn't exist.

  13. That might be the wildest irony of ironies. After railing against billionaires for the past year, the one person who might be able to credibly and rationally make the case for how he can fix the DNC is himself a billionaire. I did not see this plot twist coming.

  14. The DNC has followed the whims of Twittercrats to their own peril and now they're in the inconvenient position of being usurped by Michael Bloomberg who can, in the midst of confusion spurred on a platform most voters don't use, just offer to buy the White House for the Democrats

  15. But it's also completely on brand for the Bernie supporters on Twitter to say that this is "rigged" when the reason why they added all of these layers of transparency was to allay those peoples' concerns about the process being fair. They, like the crowd, feed on grievance.

  16. At the end of the day, we're already mired in competing stories over who won, who lost, what happened, and why and it's not like anyone's coming out of this looking less than petty. This who debacle eventually gets us to ~1% of the total delegate haul. This is a great big L.

  17. But all of the chaos coming out of last night's caucuses don't really help any candidate that actually participated in them. Win or lose, everyone comes out of Iowa with an asterisk next to their name and can claim a do-over in NH with a primary or in NV with a working caucus.

  18. The Democrats have bent over backwards to create a primary system that's "fair" and "transparent" and it's starting to look feckless. Bloomberg can basically say, "Contract my campaign, I'll run it and the DNC efficiently and all we'll worry about is winning." It's oddly smart.

  19. If there's another subtle sales pitch that Michael Bloomberg can make drafting off of the disaster of the caucuses and the debacle of last summer's debates, it's that the DNC's infrastructure is insufficient for 2020 and his personal ability to run without it is a net plus.

  20. I think it’s fair to say that any journalist or campaign operative acting as a journalist who is currently spreading information on internal polling as either news or fact is helping to deligitimize the eventual results of the caucus. And I’m looking right at .

  21. The Iowa Caucuses were a shitshow and Michael Bloomberg was right to skip it. Even if there’s a “winner” announced in the next 48 hours, that news is going under the State of the Union and impeachment acquittal. This week is going to be ugly with conspiracy theories.
