For a lot of people, police only make those problems worse. That money can be used for social workers and psychiatric emergency response teams.

So who will show up when someone is murdered? a social worker? will they solve the crime? I'm not being fresh, I'm curious as to how this would work.

I’ve seen people explain these ideas more eloquently, but there would be situations where police would respond, such as violent crimes, and others that don’t require armed policemen but trained intervention teams such as most psych emergencies and non-violent disputes.
