I thought the whole point of 3D printed homes was mainly about keeping costs down to make them cheap and affordable, this is the opposite of that. I sincerely hope these folks are getting a 4,000+ square foot house out of it.

No no, you misunderstood. The whole point was to keep the costs down "for the builders/sellers", not the consumers. Now they can make triple the profit.
