I hate stories like this because they never acknowledge what actually happened. Would be good to know what set this whole thing off so other creators could be aware of what to watch out for.

I doubt Google told the guy anything beyond vagueness like "it was a mistake", "the algorithm did it", refusing to accept blame of course. The face that the guy in question didn't reveal more in the forum post should tell you something, he's either being polite or wasn't told.
