A Public Service Announcement: 1. Americans do not lose citizenship when convicted of a crime, and US Constitution gives states the power to let those incarcerated vote. 2. Voting is basic to citizenship; a cornerstone of civic life. It belongs to all.https://www.vera.org/blog/jurisdictions-should-embrace-voting-rights-for-all-americans-including-those-who-are-incarcerated …

Could not agree more. The incarcerated are still citizens with an important voice. They should vote, even while incarcerated.

        3. Like a lot of other things, this is radical thing in America but a pretty mainstream thing in a lot of places around the world.

Yall Florida passed to auto grant their citizens back the right to vote after paying off their debt to society (previously only way was to beg before a kangaroo court w/Rick Scott acting as final aberrator - sick shit). I cannot wait to see the huge impact on coming elections.

It's ridiculous that people who are serving time or have served time have their right to vote taken away.

And enfranchising the jail populations will provide votes in support of dismantling the prison industrial complex. Those votes will also assist us in decriminalizing all drug offenses and petty theft cases in favor of rehab & community service. I say bring them home for 2020! 🇺🇸

Should incarcerated ppl serve on juries? Be allowed to own weapons for self-defense? Travel? Your argument is paper thin.

Obeying the rule of law is by far the most fundamental cornerstone of any civilization. Without law and order civilization will cease to exist. A citizen who lives outside of the laws of civilization rejects their own citizenship, therefore no longer enjoys such privileges.

Doesn't the Law state that FELONS lose their Right to vote? Wasn't it included to make the commission of a FELONY more 'punishable' in hopes of deterring it? Wasn't THAT its purpose?...

Ummm public service announcement: You commit a crime in America there absolutely should be consequences. If any American commits and is convicted of a felony, not only should they lose the right to vote but also to own a gun. Every child in America should be taught this!
