    When I was a student, my schools spent a lot of time on Helen Keller — since she was a fellow Alabamian. I did not know she was a socialist. I did not know that she co-founded the ACLU.

    Why does the press report that “Melania” tweeted that message the other day when she obviously did not? I have no idea why she disappeared but I think it’s super weird the way the press covers her. No other First Lady that I can remember got this kind of “hands-off” treatment.

    Hadiya Pendleton was shot walking home from her Chicago school in 2013; following her death, her friends and family encouraged people to wear orange on her birthday - the color hunters wear to signal “don’t shoot.” Hadiya should be celebrating her 21st birthday today.

    As most of you enjoy wrapping up your school year I will be trying to get mentally prepared for this weekend. The 21st birthday of my niece Hadiya Pendleton. This is her at graduation in 2011 from 8th grade and this is her posthumous senior graduation in 2015.
