Brain development includes multiple linear and non-linear trends. Depending on the age range under the study, the development trend can be estimated sub-optimally if (linear or nonlinear) trends are considered separately.

Shared trajectory: an approach to estimate dynamic connectivity in both instantaneous or weighted averaged modes. The weighted average version need fewer samples to reach stable results (compared to sliding window Pearson correlation). ()

Spatial dynamic functional connectivity results in higher patient predictability by identifying functional patterns associated with paranoia and capturing their tendency to switch to or stay in a state corresponding to a hyperconnected brain network ().

Space: a Missing Piece of the Dynamic Puzzle: Here we make the case that most fMRI dynamic connectivity ignores spatial aspects (e.g. moving sources). We also attempt to categorize existing approaches into temporal, spatial, and spatiotemporally dynamic ()
