It makes no sense that Linus Torvalds would step down over that New Yorker story, which was good but not forced-resignation-and-apology good. Something else is going on, and my bet is that it is inside the Linux Foundation.

I know it is all meant well, but... I am struck at how many press requests I'm getting (and I assume others are, too) asking me to talk about past abuse rather than comment as an expert. Women should not have to re-live their traumas over &over in order to be taken seriously.

At this point, the Senate has shown significantly more deference to Facebook and Google’s hearing-scheduling requests than to Ford’s.

As the author of that study told me, "If you’re really concerned for someone's health, then you should be nice to them." Few medical professionals recommend repeatedly telling alcoholics that they're destroying their liver, or people with chronic depression they need to cheer up.

Cruz stops briefly to adjust his skin suit and whispers quietly but urgently into his armpit, "Not much longer now, Lord Karvatharolth. Not much longer now."

Hi folks! Apparently there's a reddit thread about how to harass me right now. People are leaving comments on blogs in my name. They're particularly targeted comments (the one I saw was a transphobic comment) designed to make people lash out at me. Please delete if you see them.

With trending, it's a good time to remember that 26% of gay men and 37% of bisexual men have been the victims of rape. And nearly half have experienced sexual violence of another form. Almost none of these cases are reported to the police or any authority.

Trump’s mercurial conduct is dangerous. This time he was able to call back the order (or national security officials were able to slow-walk their response). It’s hard to call back a nuclear strike order

Today, I learned Linus Torvalds’s “decision to step aside came after The asked him a series of questions about his conduct for a story on complaints about his abusive behavior discouraging women from working as Linux-kernel programmers.” Impact.

Funny how the outlets that are taking more time reporting this are coming up with a different take on it.

Let me just say that, based on my personal experience, "FBI dude personally and professional incapable of understanding sarcasm takes a prosecutor's mordant comment literally" is not implausible to me.

A thought: the Kavanaugh mess has structural roots. Rs needed someone who was both ideologically reliable and at no risk of developing a conscience when it came to defending Trump against rule of law. So it had to be a bad person, which meant good odds of nasty stuff surfacing
