I was alive in the '80s and I don't remember stories like this about the anxiety of nuclear war. Maybe in the '50s and '60s? At any rate, they probably would've been just as nonsensical as this idiocy about climate change anxiety is.https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2020/feb/10/overwhelming-and-terrifying-impact-of-climate-crisis-on-mental-health …

"Second, we must recognize that most of these feelings are perfectly normal. Many of us, adults as well as children, are experiencing 'climate grief.'" Don't use "perfectly normal" in one sentence and "climate grief" in the next." You look like a fool.https://www.sfchronicle.com/opinion/article/How-to-deal-with-climate-anxiety-15021754.php …

The current cover story of the Washington Post Magazine. Sensational presentation aside, this is a pretty balanced take on the issue and notes fear of climate anxiety may be a bigger problem than climate anxiety. And it does mention fears of nuclear war. https://www.washingtonpost.com/magazine/2020/02/03/eco-anxiety-is-overwhelming-kids-wheres-line-between-education-alarmism/ …

This is the sort of thing I was wondering about. Looks like there was coverage of nuclear anxiety similar to "climate anxiety" now. Whether as widespread or not, I don't know. But it was there. H/t @jacobgershman.https://www.nytimes.com/1985/12/01/nyregion/helping-children-cope-with-the-fear-of-nuclear-war.html …
