The only thing people like Bill Kristol care about is figuring out what ideology will afford the best chance to accumulate wealth, power and influence. Such people are not bound by principles...it's just a matter of ingratiating themselves with enough people who also lack them

With Warren, not only does less probably get done (less congressional/senatorial fallout, among other reasons), pendulum likely swings back harder and faster. There's a strategic case that Rs should prefer her, even if she wins.

2022 would be a bloodbath for them....94' all over again.

As long as the GOP keeps the Senate, who wins the Presidency is largely irrelevant. Obama was almost completely ineffective his last term, and there's no reason to believe the same wouldn't be true of, say, Warren.
-
The key, of course, is to keep the party healthy enough that it wins downballet. Something Kristol understands much better than the average Trumpkin.

The future of the GOP is pure Trumpism. Only the most amoral amongst us would even want a role in that cesspool.
