We don’t know the motive here yet. Was it workplace rage? A desire to die violently by police-suicide? Animosity for the people he had worked with — their brown skin, turbans and Punjabi? My guess is some of all of the above. White supremacy often runs under the surface.

My loves, you are sovereign. You are Kaurs and Singhs. The courage of our ancestors runs through your blood. We can bear this. They showed us how. May we love each other hard. Listen to kirtan. Make prashad. Rest. Cry. Rage. Breathe. Do Ardas. Say their names.

This week alone, we've seen: Daunte Wright. 13-year-old Adam Toledo. Now Indianapolis. It’s OK if you’re numb. Your body is trying to protect you. I ask one thing: Don’t let your numbness turn into paralysis. We need you. We need you in the fight. We are fighting for our lives.
