    1850, U.S. Congress passed draconian Fugitive Slave Act which required that people who had escaped from slavery to anywhere in U.S. be captured & returned. Punished those who did not comply. This undoes any claim of "states rights." Lessons + more ⬇️

    Happy Birthday Paulo Freire! He would have been 100 years old today. Freire’s “Pedagogy of the Oppressed” was one of the most important books in my development as an educator. Thanks for teaching us that we have to not only read the word, but also the world!

    DON’T FORGET TO CREDIT ⁦⁩ for fighting for these measures from both the outset — and to ensure LAUSD continues the safe practices! All these safety measures are in place because of struggle.

  18. Janitors who cleaned for Netflix, Apple, Pfizer & more struggled to survive while companies got rich off of COVID. After threatening to strike, more than 20,000 janitors with won a pay increase and pension plan. When workers fight, they win.
