    Bobby Jones won the 1923 and 1929 U.S. Opens in playoffs. In '23 at Inwood, Jones won the 18-hole playoff by 2 strokes over Bobby Cruickshank. In '29 at Winged Foot, Jones won the 36-hole playoff by 23 strokes over Al Espinosa.

    Julius Boros won the in 1952 and 1963, but only '63 was in a playoff. Billy Casper won in 1959 and 1966, but only '66 was in a playoff. Retief Goosen won in 2001 and 2004, but only '01 was in a playoff.
