None of which supports the conclusion that CAM is valid medicine.https://twitter.com/usnehal/status/997323684137365504 …

Exactly! And the hedge pretending that CAM is an adjunct instead of a cure is simply disingenuous. I drank lemonade during my cancer tmt, and I'm now NED. So is it ok for me to sell my special miracle cancer cure recipe as long as I say "adjunct?"

Quite honestly any promised “cure” should always be suspect regardless of who or what. No one can promise a cure to an individual. On the issue of some cancers, we overtreat even when cure is not attainable. And the whole “beat” cancer implies lack of cure is failure.

Any claimed medical "treatment" should be supported by evidence of potential benefit greater than risk, which is where CAM advocates consistently fail, and we've come full circle.

Not an “advocate” for CAM or against it. Am an advocate for listening, partnering, not overstating, not making assumptions, using neutral tone, using consistent standards, assessing level of harm to prioritize response, self policing, being honest, and cultivating humility.

You sure could've fooled me. It was skeptics discussing a negative acupuncture study that got you worked up, & many of the things you say (e.g., "allopathic," deflection of criticism if acupuncture worth complaints about conventional medicine) are straight or of the CAM playbook.

I am genuinely perplexed. Communication on Twitter requires use of words. What is the right word? Allopathic is used in JAMA and Academic Medicine. It is used in undergrad advising programs to identify potential paths (MD, DO, etc). Is in usage. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/12425709/ …
