rollback netcode handles weak connections better, you'll have much less input lag, but in exchange there can be teleporting (the game state rolls back). Smash is delay based aka for bad connections you get more and more input lag until at one point the game just slows down.

Rollback predicts and corrects once packet sends which when implemented correctly is unperceivable to same country, barely noticed for some continent and sometimes weird to look at but playable cross continent - delay is unplayable and doesn't make sense for fighting games
