So if @urbit became popular, everyone would have continual independent control over ALL their data. You would own your data again not the corps. Which then gives the consumer the power.
Theoretically because it's all tracked, can you then personally sell your data to companies?

The same things could have been said about the web 30 years ago. I mean - a lot of people is aware that they are being monetized online and can't practically do anything about it. Also - urbit hosting providers can attract people by implementing wonderful propriety JETs.

(...) and then just have all non-hosted users suffer terrible performance of some really cool and popular apps. If you ask me there's nothing to prevent the same degeneration that happened with web here.
