@urbit Sorry, I'm not a technical individual..what about anonymity? If an address owned by someone and fixed to that individual – does that preclude being anonymous?
Internet is not a friendly place if you can not control your anonymity to powerful parties.
We think that Urbit is more likely to be a friendly network if people have durable, long lasting identities.

I disagree. People are not friendly when it comes to views that hurt them, and people can hurt others for differing views, especially when it's about popular/unpopular views. Won't this create an environment where majority can "bully" the minority? Or I misunderstand something?

We envision Urbit as primarily for building private or at least semi-private communities. We think people probably want a break from the chaos of today's 'social media'.

Anonymity or the ability to change pseudonyms can give freedom of expression when it concerns some judged views. Won't a system with a permanent pseudonym create an environment where dissent from the views of majority is punished? I am looking from a simple human perspective.

If Urbit were designed to be a single public space, you'd probably be right. Think of Urbit, as a social space, as more similar to Telegram or Signal.

No one has to know what your Urbit name is and it's theoretically possible to route Urbit over i2p (the tor protocol)

I might be missing something technical here. I don't know.
