Maybe a better strategy to lower the barrier of entry would be a way to commandeer your urbit using JS (an API for your urbit) as opposed to running transpiled JS on the urbit vm

We've talked about compiling JS to Nock. Although people seem to prefer the idea of Lua.

And, yes, we'd definitely like to get Urbit APIs to the point that you wouldn't need to write any urbit-side code. This is already true to some degree. There's an urbit-based Twitter clone that's 100% client-side.
