In 2019, the Trump administration is trying to undo the progress of the Civil Rights Act of 1964????? If true, I will do everything in my power to stop this, including introducing a Congressional Review Act resolution to overturn it.

Absurd, ignorant, and painfully cruel misconception. Backpay is not guaranteed for federal workers and unlikely for contract staff. Government shutdowns are costly: for workers without pay; for agencies whose workload backs up; for Americans who deserve a functioning government.

Don't confuse the pivotal point at which the masses become aware of an issue with the idea that "nobody cared until now." It's the case with most injustices that there are ppl who care from the beginning, who then work to convince others why they should care. 1/

As the author of a global history of concentration camps, I'd like to note that Trump talking about declaring a national emergency to resolve a political issue is a bad development, whether or not his emergency powers can actually be used to address the issue in question.

Factual basis for a national emergency: -Violent crime DROPPED according to latest FBI data. -Property crime also DROPPED. -Immigrants, both documented a & undocumented, commit LESS CRIME than native-born Americans. Courts would strike down this power grab.
