Why is this man even given oxygen in the media ? Health is not a commercial matter but a vital part of our social infrastructure. Other threats to our nation are imprisoned. It may be time to start considering such responses to those who seek to undermine Australia.

Australia became one of the only nations to introduce universal health coverage in 1975. This aimed to ensure all Australians had access to a wide range of health services at little or no cost, no matter where you lived or how much money you earned.

Of course the Private Health Funds would love that. We'd have a healthcare system like the U.S. with extortionate costs & no safety net. Any Govt that is so foolish as to contemplate destroying one of the best healthcare systems in the world would have a revolution on its hands.

Always remember that in 1975 Gough Whitlam gave Australia Medibank, refined as Medicare by Paul Keating in 1984. The concept was & still is anathema to uncaring LNP who seek to destroy it brick by brick until we follow the US model. To say else is a lie.https://www.smh.com.au/national/from-the-archives-1984-medicare-is-introduced-in-australia-20190130-p50ui0.html …

No worries Mark. The poor & the young just love paying your $4M a year salary under Howard's compulsory private health scam (& for your kids private schooling) from their low paid gigs & underpaid wage theft jobs. Greed is God. Or is it tumbrel behaviour?

Seems both brothers, Joel & Mark want to be kept in the manner to which they have become accustomed.

Quite the opposite. Get rid of health funds and have ONE Medicare. Put the subsidies into public health not fund pockets.

Agreed.

I have a better idea. Let's abolish private heath insurance. Increase Medicare and make it illegal to discriminate on the basis of personal wealth.

Here's an idea. Let's cut out the expensive profit seeking middle man and ban all private health funds
@nibhealthfunds. I'd be more than happy to redirect my private health contributions into a vibrant world class public health system. -
I point blank refuse to buy into health funds. Despite paying a higher Medicare levy.
