Many of the input synapses onto PN axons are actually axo-axonic connections from other PN axons. These build a complex network in which some communities appear to represent specific odour scenes. 6/12pic.twitter.com/1DLjW3xxA9

We marked all synapses on PN axons (over 175k!). Intriguingly in the largest target area, the lateral horn, the axons also receive many input synapses. These are almost absent from the next major target, the mushroom body. 5/12pic.twitter.com/mGk9ilzm39

PNs are incredibly diverse. This includes the olfactory input that they receive, ranging from very broad (dendrites in almost all of the 51 olfactory glomeruli) to very sparse (uniglomerular i.e. just one olfactory channel). 3/12pic.twitter.com/Km4xLvwBHQ

Building on previous work from
@zhihaozheng,@dddavi et al we reconstructed, identified and analysed all 346 olfactory projection neurons (PNs) using@catmaid. ~2-3x more PNs than previously reported! 2/12pic.twitter.com/Yc7bCMhaaw -
Anybody else finding the thought that we're just a bunch neurons on legs thinking about how neurons work weird?

Hey
@R_Graph_Gallery. How about adding sunburst charts? I've played around with using it to represent hierarchical clustering: https://gist.github.com/schlegelp/0a3676aeb043cd4f2f8b17242b91a04d …pic.twitter.com/gWhDJxT4QD
