    I really can’t stand this aphorism, often repeated. If Henry Ford had asked people what they needed, listened very carefully, and applied critical thinking, he might have produced much better automobiles and happier customers than he actually ended up with.

    If Henry Ford had asked people what they needed, which was a faster horse, the industry of inexpensive autos would not have happened. True Design connects need, desire and possibility. It's not "incremental UI enhancements"

    My issue isn’t with Ford, it’s with the original aphorism that gets trotted out to over-inflate lone innovator ideas at the expense of condescendingly dismissing user experiences.

    I really can’t stand this aphorism, often repeated. If Henry Ford had asked people what they needed, listened very carefully, and applied critical thinking, he might have produced much better automobiles and happier customers than he actually ended up with.

    Shopify rewrote one of their native iOS apps in React Native and as a result it now has way less crashes. Things have really changed. I remember back in 2016/2017 the many crypt crashes happening that were react-native's fault. Nowadays it's zero or close to zero.

    If all you do is dunk on a specific technology or tool whenever anyone posts something positive about it, ask yourself if that tech is the problem or if you are. Negativity is a self fulfilling prophecy. BTW React Native is pretty awesome ✌️

    Ideas are one in a million. Execution is much less common. One of the simplest things you can do to set yourself apart from the majority of people is to actually ship something. An app, a blog post, a book, even a tweet. It doesn’t have to be perfect, you just need to do it.
