Always good to read an honest blog post about rust's shortcomings. It's not a 100% slam dunk, ever. And that's OK. I still enjoy writing it and I live on nightly where speed boosts happen week-to-week. Debug builds have gotten very snappy for me.

It's extremely not fun to work hundreds of hours on a code base, brainstorm things, make trade-offs, and then get a mob of people who skim over your code in 30 seconds then tell you that you're so bad at programming that you should never write Rust ever again.

I'm terrified of ever having a popular opensource library. What happened to actix-rs sounds like a nightmare. I'll probably try proprietary licenses where people can read the code and use it for small project, if only to keep from becoming popular.

Dev tip: Add "after:2018" to the end of every Google search for solutions to technical issues. It filters the results with fewer clicks. 💁🏾‍♀️

git rebase isn't about "hygiene" or "moving commits to a different branch" or anything else. it's about saving face after it takes you 37 tries to get travis working

If you are a C or C++ programmer somehow still on the fence about whether or not you should take seriously, consider this piece from Cliff Biffle an absolute must-read:

Brian Cardarella's Ember throwing shade is a good thing. I wasted so much of my time trying to get Ember working for a client, not a good solution for any of my clients.

Really fantastic article on PR's constitutional setup. Good to learn about the appointments clause and how it is making strange bedfellows.

Is it just me or are the semver implications of futures 0.1/0.2/0.3 and tokio-whatever (0.X) really awful for programmers who are not studiously following rust async? I'm visiting code from 2017 and I can't get `and_then` working with hyper and it's awful.

I have mounted my code in to the docker container (on a Mac, not that it should matter): RUSTFLAGS='-C linker=rust-lld -L /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu -L /usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-linux-gnu/8' cargo build will blow up with:

Anyone gotten the LLVM linker (lld) working on the rustlang/rust:nightly container? I want a faster linker, I'm stuck in 30+ second linkage cycles.
