The fact that they're so willing to just let it go if I remove the tweets to be is telling but I'm not a lawyer

I spoke with the attorney in question. His LinkedIn says he's a real estate attorney. It was very clear from the call that his client just wants the stuff removed so prospective employers don't see it. It was also clear that they know they have no case.

He also clarified that he supposedly wasn't threatening my husband's business but saying that a judgment, if passed, could be attached to it *eyeroll*

I also gave the attorney an earful about including my husband in this letter and addressing it to him and using HIS NAME AND NOT MINE. I informed him that no, my husband does not actually own me.

Look I'm one of those "IT'S THE PRINCIPLE THAT MATTERS" people so this is really hard for me to let go lol. My only concern is that the dude in question seems like the type willing to waste time and money on a personal lawsuit, regardless of his chances, and hard pass.

I suppose if anyone else were interested in posting the screenshots with just the individual's name in question as the text - for searches by potential employers, dating partners, etc, you could do that. Just saying.

Anyway now the lawyer is also very angrily threatening to sue me for posting his letter if I don't take it down also by the 15th. I'm a poor disabled woman so if anyone is willing to help with this I'd appreciate it.

I have a couple solid leads right now so I think I'm okay but I will reach out again! Thank you so much to everyone who chimed in and helped!

And just to be clear since the lawyer in question accused me of seeking revenge, that's not the issue here. My primary concern is that future employers, potential romantic partners, etc who try to seek info on the client in question won't know about this stuff.

My secondary issue is that using the law to threaten people in to silence feels kind of like a violation of free speech to me and I don't like it at all. As a woman I've spent much of my life being made to feel powerless and I'm tired of it.

Okay UPDATE on all this. First and foremost, I'm disabled, and I need to think about my mental health above all or I'm no good to anyway. Any legal proceedings, regardless of outcome, would be draining af.
@helloitsgriff promised to support me either way but in the endShow this thread -
I decided to delete the two tweets mentioned in the letter. It was a tough decision to make because bullying people with the law in order to silence and suppress them is something I take serious issue with. The lawyer in question should be ashamed of himself for aiding this.

There is a reason lawyers have such a bad name, and so many lawyer jokes abound. He's one of those reasons. His methods and his manner on the phone were completely abhorrent. The client lost his job, he's paying the consequences for airing his violent views online.

But I'm so angry that folks out there are being silenced like this. Likely most people who receive letters like mine are immediately terrified into shutting up. People with even more serious issues than the one I tweeted about.

Thank you to everyone who supported me in this. I feel like I let folks down but I know what I'm capable of handling, and given that we're still in the middle of a pandemic, and *gestures* everything else going on, it's just too much for me right now.

Anyway, today was the deadline, we'll see what happens after this. Love to you all.

Oh and one more thing, one reason I was worried about deleting was that it could somehow be seen as an admission of guilt. But absolutely not. I believe I was 100% in the right, and obviously when his employer saw the comments they agreed with my opinions.

UPDATE: With the help of
@antiSLAPP and the@EFF I was able to find an attorney with@Public_Citizen to assist me with this mess. Here's his blog post:https://pubcit.typepad.com/clpblog/2020/06/the-copyrighted-demand-letter-redux.html …Show this thread
