Just like the rest of the state, coastal Georgia businesses faced difficulties due to the pandemic. The has supported the start of 92 new businesses in southern coastal communities since March 2020. Today, those businesses are going strong. ⬇️

Last stop for the UGA #NewFacultyTour: Yonah Mountain Vineyards in Cleveland, Ga. There are now more than 100 vineyards in N. Georgia, with a farmgate value of $26.8 million. Tastings, tours, festivals and other events have been a tremendous boost to the state. 🍷🍇

When Stephen Nottingham was ready to start his business, he worked with the UGA SBDC in Savannah to launch FREN, a multidisciplinary design company. “Having support avenues like my relationship with my business consultant Becky was fundamental,” he said.

When Tracia Tullis had to close Gladys’ Kitchen in 2020, she worked with the SBDC in Albany to apply for the Restaurant Revitalization Fund and was able to add a drive-through window, retain five employees and remodel the restaurant.

While waiting out a 3-year non-compete clause, Kyle Flanagan worked with the UGA SBDC in Augusta to begin planning for the launch of Lawn Ace. “I am the SBDC’s biggest cheerleader. It is the single best thing I have ever done for my business.”
