In other news, interviewing and applications are still horrible. Today: a friend is going through the process at a household-name company.

She has dual undergrad in math/econ, now doing master’s at prestigious university.

HOWEVER — she left high school two years early to go straight to college.

Want to guess whether the company’s automated HR forms are happy about her having neither high-school diploma nor GED?

Even better: hiring people at the company say they “don’t know” whether automated system will even let her through to next stages.

As in, they use this system, but do not know how it behaves and are apparently powerless to fix/override it.

And this is not the first time she’s dealt with this. And it will only get worse if this kind of crap proliferates.
