Ok this is annoying because Sam and Joslin were right. there. They kept the basic stranded-on-an-island plot and the bad guy of the game, and created a role for Daniel Wu, but erased the 2 important WOC canonically in the game?

Um. Wow ok it looks like the entire plot of the Tomb Raider 2018 film is already up on Wikipedia. If this is real 1) spoiler warning 2) it's indeed a dude fest and 3) they literally do use the plot of Himiko, yet thought Sam wasn't at all integral to that plot

While I'd hoped (up until about a year ago) that this would've been a significant film, especially in light of the amazing WW movie, I'm now anticipating it to be a mildly enjoyable popcorn flic and little more -- sadly doubt it will have WW's momentous influence

When she says "all of the shows" she really only knows one. You can count the number of films with asian men and non asian women on one hand, and the number of romantic leads on less than a few fingers. Meanwhile the amount of WMAF made by asian women :thinking:
Filipinos women are some of the worst self-haters in the world. Their greatest source of pride is to have some white heritage in them even if it was from a great great grandparent. They are also one of the biggest markets for mail order brides. Loser white males love them.
So every other film and tv show from say the past 20 years that had the opposite - white male lead and his asian gf / sidekick were ok ?

While I agree that white feminism is toxic to WOC, why can't Asian men be elevated and it be a celebrated moment for Asian Americans in general? (Disclaimer: haven't seen the movie yet so right to reserve further judgment)
Why are asian feminist the only WoC to vocally express their disdain for their male counterparts and sucumb to white male supremacy? This is why other PoC don't take asian feminism seriously
Asian feminism is based on trashing asian men to look better by comparison and elevate themselves. It's so they can say "The negative stereotypes are about asian men, not US. We're sexually attractive with value, they're asexual unattractive losers with no value."
