If you need me to explain why I would be against gun ownership "especially for those who have families" you're probably not going to like any of the answers I have to give.

I’ve been taught by my family since I was 4 to never point a the barrel of a gun at someone, even if it’s a toy gun. Responsible gun owners either know how to teach their kids, or how to keep the gun away from the kids. Legal gun owners are not the problem lmao

What are you lmao at? Do you not think there's an issue with the fact you were taught at 4 to point the barrel away... Unless it's a bad guy, in which case let rip?

9 times out of 10 you don’t need to “let it rip.” The mere presence of a firearm is enough to dissuade most criminals, it’s very basic human nature

How do the criminals know who has a firearm? Do you think 10% is an acceptable about of times you'd need to use deadly force?

It doesn’t matter if the criminal has a firearm or not, never put yourself at an automatic disadvantage. If they don’t have a gun, yay, they’ll likely run. If they charge, you have to choose between your life and theirs. If they have a gun, at least you’re not at a disadvantage

Where does that end for you? Have you a hand gun or a fully automatic rifle? Have you a night scope? Have you considered booby trapping the house or upgrading to explosives?

I have both a hand gun and a semi-automatic rifle, as well as a shotgun. You cannot legally own a fully automatic rifle without proper licensing. Shotgun and rifle are for hunting/recreation. Handgun for concealed carry. Why in the hell do I need explosives/booby traps??

No one rationally makes that jump to booby traps/explosives. It’s like marijuana to fentanyl. I have no need. Just need to lock your doors and put guns in a safe. Keep the pistol in a hidden but close location to your bed in case the locks don’t work

But I'm living in a marijuana world and you're the one explaining to me fentanyl is OK. What don't you get about this, gun ownership isn't the starting point, it's already an escalation.

No gun ownership is not an escalation. I’m the stoner telling you marijuana is 1000x safer than any other drug. Responsible gun ownership is about protection for you and your loved ones, and occasionally, food on the table. No more
