Sometimes squinting at my art helps me fix issues with it, kinda does the same as stepping back and looking at it small. It's weird!

Well art pieces are always made to be looked at from a certain distance no? Sounds like itd be really hard to make something that looks good up close and far away.

I've notice that too, yet I'm always cuaght making the mistake of wanting to add more detail no one would notice and then looking from a distance doesn't seem right.

haha That does happen. I may also happen that when you work really hard on specific details you can get a little carried away. End up having details that no one notices because the pic is too big or there's too much going on in it.
