Crosswalks are designed on a case-by-case basis. This 3-inch rise is due to the amount of freight traffic, which made 6-inches unfeasible. Being on a downhill grade also means the approach slope is less steep. Permanent signage & markings will be installed when crew is available.

Once again SDOT puts the convenience and comfort of drivers over the safety of everyone else. It really should just be their motto. (Continuing to hope things will start to change this year, but it’ll be a long slow change, if they change at all.)
