This month is 8 years since Seattle passed its last major climate action plan. That plan calls for a 20% reduction in the number of vehicle miles travelled in the city by 2030. We have achieved the opposite, VMT is higher now than it was then.

If we aren't prepared to do the popular things like open Lake Washington Boulevard during the summer, wow wow wow does it not look good for the unpopular things.

I wonder what the number was for 2020? I'd hope it would be below the target. But 2020 was an anomaly.
I not longer have any faith in long term plans. Mayoral candidates: tell me what you will do immediately upon taking office.

I would attribute this to the rapid increase in wealthier households. Wealthy people drive more.
