I am at the Seattle bike advisory board and will be tweeting any new information. So far all we're discussing is how the implementation schedule for the rest of the Move Seattle levy is still not ready.

It could be April 2 until we know what bike projects will be built this year.

Now there's an update on 12th Ave S between Beacon Hill and Little Saigon. Still no plan for bicycle facilities north of S King Street. If King Street doesn't have sufficient traffic calming, then it's not #alegra.

For more reading on that, check out the excellent Natalie Bicknell's reportage.

Now talking about the Broadway EV charging station, which is another meeting happening right now. Bike board thinks it's #bonkers for the most part, like almost everyone else who's been told about it.

Now it's time for the Intelligent Traffic Signal (ITS) presentation. This same presentation was made to the pedestrian board last month. They have a good list of reasons not to implement ITS.

Patrick Taylor asks Why Not Shut Off Adaptive Signals?
I wish I could do the answer to this question justice, but I'll sum it up as: We know it was bad for pedestrians but now we think it's less bad.

Now it's time for a presentation on N 40th Street, which had its bike lanes removed from the project last year. Apparently there is $70,000 available for bikes in the area. That's basically a Your Voice Your Choice project.

Ideas for Wallingford Ave and 40th: replace signal heads. retime signals. add an LPI (because bikes will be on the sidewalk?)

Note that Wallingford/40th is the highest crash intersection in the area.

40th and Latona proposal: some fresh kermit. signage. maybe flashy lights.

At the last meeting, it was implied that SDOT would come back with an alternate proposal for bike facilities in Wallingford.
Now it's clear they are talking about adding some green paint and a few flashy lights at some intersections.

If they had stated this at the time, I think it likely that the bike board would have pushed back harder on the scaling back of 40th street.
