I'd love to but my work is absolutely married to the Windows Scripting Host by way of a third-party tool. I can't use anything more modern than VBScript or JScript (circa ES3) and it's terrible.

You can compile TypeScript down to ES3 and include `scripthost` in your `lib` settings.

I too, read them with joy. I'm already looking forward to the release post, although it contains almost the same. Both the VSCode and TS release posts are both informative and well written!

Are there any open issues or discussion around loosening the return type annotation of an async function to *not* require modifying explicit return type to be a generic promise? There are scenarios where doing so makes async await an unnecessarily leaky abstraction in TS.
