Hey folks! If you’re still hanging out on Twitter please consider joining us on Mastodon. Don’t go down with the ship when it’s captained by a billionaire toddler.
Mastodon’s nowhere near as complicated as people make it out to be, and the functionality is very similar!

One of my friends spoke out about her experience with Modern Frontends.
I have some things to say too.
It seems like a lot of people do.

Here: have a surprisingly emo write-up of #ffconf and my resulting thoughts on making space for multiple truths.
Enormous thank you to again to: ♥️

I'm really enjoying that many people are running back to web1 (mailing lists, personal blogs) after this Twitter situation. The explosion of new personal sites is so lovely to see (and ties so well into 's talk at #ffconf).

Downloading my data just in case. It’s sad to think we might lose this platform - I’ve made so many friends and I’m grateful for the platform I’ve had.
Not sure if I’ll get on the mastodon train, but you can always find me at localghost.dev - subscribe to my RSS feed!

It's one home timeline, Michael. What could it cost, 1000 poorly batched RPCs?

at an absolute *minimum* a conference should cover speaker’s travel and accommodation
I can’t believe this has to be said still

beyond looking after the speakers who provide them with the content they’re selling, if speakers have to pay to speak in some capacity, it will limit the voices in the space to those who can afford to make themselves heard

While we're riding the post-ffconf nostalgia wave, I've written up my State of the Browser 2022 talk, where I rebuilt some classic 90s/00s web features in modern HTML, CSS and JS!

inspired by real events please enjoy this one page RPG called "I do not want a mastodon" in which you are given a mastodon you do not want by well meaning people who do not understand that you do not want a mastodon

There’s also a world of difference between a community conference and a big corporate one.

To clarify: no not all confs pay but they should at the very least cover travel & accommodation for speakers, and look after them. Seems like some don’t even do that. If a conf isn’t offering you any kind of compensation for the literal money you spend to get there, don’t do it.

That’s despite a 3 and a half hour journey home from Brighton, instead of the usual 1.5!… was grateful for the chocolate in the speaker gift bags (and ‘s excellent company of course)

My heart is full of warm fuzzies and love for the frontend community after a brilliant #ffconf. I made some new friends, saw lots of old ones, and watched some amazing talks. It was a privilege to be a part of its return 💜
