Natural gas industry and its advocacy arms are promoting their product as a transition fuel. Actinide advocates should remind the world that our fuel is a DESTINATION fuel that can cleanly power society for millennia.

shows its true colours – prefers focusing on its anti ideology rather than trying to solve the real problem. Amazed that a so-called "Green" can support emitting sources!!

Happy New Year Germany! Pity about the ramp up in emissions with the premature permanent shutdown of Philippsburg-2 after 35 years of producing

News of the world 🇸🇪: Back in the days I was bidding as EPR team for the replacement of Ringhals 2 against Westing’s AP1000. In October 2014, the already 5-years long call for bid of joint technical work was ended by the Greens as a coalition’ gift. Closure is too early, a waste

New NBER working paper looks at the social costs of Germany’s nuclear phase-out. Finds most of the lost production replaced by coal and imports. Annual social cost of $12B/yr, mostly due to local air pollution health costs.

”Given climate emergencies and energy security, nuclear power surely deserves a better hearing than it gets in Germany.” ”Coal, Germany's throwback cure for its atomic abstinence, weighed in at 820 grams of CO2 per kilowatt hour of power.”

Exactly. It is currently stored like this in Ontario. It is the furthest thing from a pressing problem, particularly given the urgency ascribed to reducing emissions at present.

Ummm.. So who will be held responsible? This is getting ridiculous. Shows us the deeper meaning of setting even lawfully binding political targets: no meaning at all,at least without a workable plan.

I'm STILL not sure that people grasp this: EU greens voted against climate action resolution because it involved nuclear. Here is a statement from French greens: "As this amendment was adopted, MEPs from Europe Ecology had to vote against the resolution"

”Contrary to many perceptions, use of nuclear power continues to grow. Over the last five years, 37 nuclear power reactors have been connected to the grid. Fifty-three more are under construction.”

‘It only produces clean energy’ Wow. I’m grateful Zack was honest enough to write what many others think. The problem with nuclear power is basically that it’s *too easy* and works *too well* by just substitution into the world as it is. This ‘Everythingism’ will doom us.

Awesome. Nuclear heat from US-designed AP1000 reactors replaces coal for district heating near Shanghai. 60,000 tons of CO2 saved per year, as well as a 1000 tons of crap that people will not have to breathe any more.
